KMRU (Joseph Kamaru) is a Nairobi-born, Berlin-based sound artist whose practice spans field recording, ambient composition, and sound art. Known for his meditative, richly textured works and performances at venues such as Berlin Atonal, the Barbican, and Unsound, he brings a deep attentiveness to listening as both method and message.
Elvin Brandhi is an improvising lyricist and experimental producer from Bridgend, Wales. Her work moves across voice, beat, and noise, often channelling raw, chaotic energy into powerful live performances and installations. A winner of the Oram Award and SHAPE artist, her sound is both visceral and abstract.

Together, they form A|||oy, a collaborative sound project exploring the morphing intersections of voice and environment, harvested into experimental song. During their time in the studio, they returned to their ongoing research into phono-pomology, the sonic lives of fruits, as both metaphor and method.

Their residency offered a vital pause from their prior urban explorations. It allowed them to re-listen, reflect, and re-sound existing material within the studio’s quiet landscape. Through field recordings, vocal improvisation, and deep listening, they worked toward a new body of sound pieces. Part folk, part digital residue, these works consider what it means to sing together in a dislocated, mediated world.
